The Best Music of 2022

Releasing my best of 2022 mix in June probably doesn’t make much sense. The fact is that at the turn of last year the pathological amount of time I spent obsessing over the last few mixes almost ruined music for me, like when I went strawberry picking as a kid and ate too many strawberries. Music became work, when this site was established for the sole purpose of being my artistic playground when writing became more of an occupation than a labor of love. 

That being said, having released a best of mix for each of the last several years, I also don’t love having a gap in the library. In the end, I elected to put together a mix that was decidedly un-definitive. I had basically emptied my clip of the best music of the year with the aforementioned mixes, one being a cocktail tempo selection featuring the best new music alongside some older gems, the other being my selection of the best dance music of 2022, which somewhat surprisingly is one of the rare mixes I made that I actually listen to.  While less definitive than other installments in the series, this mix is an attempt to present some of the most agreeable music of the year.
