Infinite Summer - A Collaborative Summer Mix
Despite being warned by the American philosopher Ferris Bueller that “life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you can miss it”, that’s exactly what I did this summer. Grounded by a writing deadline that had me at my desk seven days a week for three months means I missed out on my favorite season. The fact that it was summer only made a difference to me in as much as I was wearing a tank top and not a hoodie while sitting at my keyboard, just as being in Berlin provided little distinction to being in Kazakhstan.
The only exception to this self-imposed exile came with a weekend getaway to Mallorca with my main man Max, one of my oldest friends and one of the most formative influences on my musical taste. It was a glorious weekend spent sipping champagne cocktails, making homoerotic references that lingered in the warm air, and bathing my skin with the sun it was starving for, with Max’s music providing the score every pristine moment.
Having returned to my adopted hometown and with the last offerings of lovely weather like sand spilling through an hourglass, I have made it my personal goal to force as many summer experiences as I am able to before an unwelcome chill in the air forces me back inside. As a soundtrack for this extended honeymoon I have teamed up with Max for my first ever collaborative mix to provide a selection suitable to the warm weather experiences I missed while I was too distracted to stop and look around.
